When to Cut back on the Night Milk Feed

Dear Anja

The daily routine you use for Dicte seems quite fine, I would suggest however that you offer her more vegetable purée together with meat or fish for lunch instead of cereal.

Most babies at Dicte's age need 4 bottles of formula a day, as the daily milk intake is approx. 750 ml. At eight months of age the usual milk intake is 600 ml, where you can cut back to 3 bottles a day.

I find it too early to cut out the late night bottle, as this specific feed seems to give her a good night's sleep. In fact, many parents choose to maintain the late night bottle for the same reason. At the same time the night bottle ensure that the milk intake is covered without affecting the intake of solid food.

I recommend that you maintain the late night bottle feed until she is approx. ten months old until she does not show signs that she needs it anymore. Otherwise, you should be aware that until she is ten to twelve months old she needs a daily formula milk intake of 400 ml which should be covered at other times of the day ...

I hope this is helpful:o)

Kind regards,

Helen Hansen
