Water on a Warm Summer Day?

Dear Signe

As a general rule, your daughter gets enough fluid from breastfeeding alone.

The composition of breast milk varies. The fore milk is thin and aqueous whereas the hind milk is the real meal. This means that your daughter will sometimes suck for a short time simply because she is thirsty, and sometimes she will suck longer because she is hungry.

This means that letting you daughter suck for a short time will ensure her fluid intake just fine, and it would only be natural for her to suck more frequently on a warm summer day. This is quite alright and not to be regarded as play or fun.

I wish you good luck :o)

Kind regards,

Helen Hansen
