Low Weight Increase
Dear helen

Eight weeks ago, my husband and I had a wonderful daughter, Laura, length at birht 55 cm, weight 4100 g. During the first days she lost 300 g.

We had a big girl, however, the problem is that she does not gain enough weight. At her five weeks check-up her she only weighed 4420 g, which was not enough according to our GP, and she has not gained weight since. She is seven weeks and five days old today, and she weighs 4600 g.

She is thriving in general, very physically active, she plays with her toy and mummy and daddy, she has a good eye contact etc.

At night she sleeps from approx. 07.30pm, with a feed at 01.00am and again at 05.00am. She has two naps in her pram during the day, a 4 hours nap in the morning, and a couple of hours nap in the afternoon.

Should we worry?

Best regards
Maris
