How Many Solids a Day?
Hi Helen

I have just returned from Finland with my son who will soon be 7 months old. I am in doubt how much solids he needs a day. I give him about 2 cereal meals a day (rice, millet or oatmeal with fruit pure) together with a vegetable pure with meat. I give him water from a cup followed by breast milk - I breastfeed him approx. 4-5 times a day.

When can I start offering him larger pieces of food, I have tried to give him small pieces of bread and banana, but he seems to choke on it.

He is settled for the night at 07.30pm where I breastfeed him. I give him gruel at 10-11pm. He wakes up a couple of times during the night, where I only offer him the dummy until 03-04am, where he has a breast feed. He wakes up again at 06am and he usually does not want to sleep any longer. He sleeps approx. 3 hours in the daytime. Should I cut out the night feed now?

He is a big boy, weight 11 kilos, length 77 cm.

Regards
Malene
